Wilf has reported from Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as from Africa, Europe and all over the Middle East. He covered the war in Iraq, Afghanistan's first democratic elections, the South Asian tsunami, the death of Pope John Paul II, and the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. He has worked for CBC, Global, CNN and ABC News. He's had some amazing experiences, but founding OpenFile is far and away the most frightening and exciting so far.

John Ferri is a veteran journalist. He worked at the Toronto Star for 30 years, where he held a number of senior positions including Op-Ed Page Editor, City Editor and Weekend Editor. John joined OpenFile In June 2011. Aside from taking photographs, his great passion is watching stories come alive.

Andrew Harmon

Chief Financial Officer

Andrew has served as CFO/VP Finance for several consumer/pharmaceutical companies with sales ranging from $50 million to $100 million. He has worked in several private entrepreneurial startups and has successfully participated in seed capital funding in excess of $100 million across a broad range of companies. He has extensive merger and acquisition experience with both companies and brands, raising funds in excess of $150 million. His experience includes insurance, legal, IT systems and installations, public company filing and regulatory affairs, purchasing, customer service and distribution.

Sonia Chai

Chief Experience Officer

Sonia is a partner at ninth+crux media, where she leads design and interaction on award-winning websites for clients across North America and Europe. With an Honours B.A. in Sociology and Semiotics from University of Toronto and a degree in Graphic Design from OCAD University, Sonia is pioneering the field of design thinking. She also has extensive experience on the agency side as a strategic and consumer insight planner. She produced a documentary on the Thomson Collection for the Art Gallery of Ontario and was heavily involved with the storytelling of the AGO's recent revitalization. Sonia is a founding member of the OpenFile team.

Tim Robertson
Tim Robertson
Chief Technology Officer

Tim is a partner at ninth+crux media, where he leads digital design and development on award-winning websites for clients across North America and Europe. Tim holds an Honours BFA in Digital Image/Sound and Fine Arts from Concordia University and an honorary diploma in Business Administration from the City of Montréal. Co-founding m carré design in 2002 led to national recognition for spearheading a partnership with the European Federation of HiTech SMEs to export Canadian digital design to France. Tim has worked with Cirque du Soleil and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. He is a founding member of the OpenFile team.

Neal Orzano

David is a lifelong wordie. Born in Toronto, he moved first to Vancouver for his bachelor's degree, then to Montreal for his master's, and now back to his favourite of the three, the inimitable Van City. He started his editorial career at Vancouver Magazine, then promptly retired to a life of leisure and travel writing as enRoute's web editor in Montreal. His latest editorial job was as assistant editor of BCBusiness Magazine, where he cultivated an interest in the West Coast tech startup scene and social entrepreneurship. He's written for a broad range of publications, from Canadian Business to the New York Times’ T Magazine.

Trevor is a Calgary-based journalist and editor for OpenFile Calgary. He's a former staff writer and web editor for Fast Forward Weekly, a former editor of Business Edge News Magazine and has been published in Edmonton's SEE Magazine, the Calgary Herald, Swerve Magazine, Alberta Venture, AltWeeklies.com, Straight Goods and DailyXY.com.

Chantal has led production as editor of the Ryerson Review of Journalism, scrubbed sentences as a copy editor for the Toronto Star and currently pitches in at This Magazine as a reviews editor. From the Toronto Star to Maisonneuve, The Globe and Mail and Reader’s Digest, she has written for print and web alike and is a devoted fan of both. All this to say: Chantal likes words, loves stories more, and is thrilled to share them on OpenFile.

Nick has interviewed countless politicians at every level of government, become hopelessly lost in a downpour on the way to Rideau Hall, and even cornered a cabinet minister on an airplane. He's written for the Ottawa Citizen, The Globe and Mail, This Magazine and University Affairs, among others. He's excited that collaborative journalism has found its way to the nation's capital.

As a freelancer, her reporting appeared in The Globe and Mail, Montreal Gazette, Toronto Star, Maclean's and the New York Times. Dominique has filed documentaries from cities in Mexico and El Salvador for CBC Radio – but loves her hometown of Montreal best of all.

After cutting his teeth at the University of Alberta's student paper, The Gateway, Neal escaped the clutches of Alberta to resettle in Halifax. After barreling through King's College's one-year journalism program, he's reported or edited for, in chronological order, CBC Radio, The Daily News (RIP), The Coast, and the much-maligned last branch of Frank Magazine. His blog, Ozanada.blogspot.ca, is under-read and rarely updated.
